Long Range Transportation Planning (LRTP)
Every five years, the Wausau MPO develops a Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). The plan assesses current conditions in the area and recommends solutions for addressing roadway deficiencies in the metro area. The LRTP serves as the foundation for transportation planning decisions, establishing a vision and goals, evaluating the transportation system as a whole, and identifying strategies for implementation.
The Wausau MPO is updating their LRTP currently. We want to hear from you! Please click the icon below and report if you have any feedback on transportation within the MPO Planning Boundary.
The new LRTP will be adopted in February 2027. MPO Staff will hold open houses for the LRTP in December of 2026.
